I. <\/span>GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROJECT:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

    Implementation context:<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    In early April, 2021; we arrived at Giang B village, one of the most disadvantaged villages in Suoi Giang commune, Van Chan district, Yen Bai province. Situated at an altitude of 1,198 meters above sea level, the village has a rugged mountainous terrain and is home to 120 households with a total population of 477, including 197 children. About 95% of the residents are H\u2019Mong ethnic people, most of whom belong to poor or near-poor households.<\/p>\n

    The water supply system for the residents of Giang B village was built from 2007 to 2008. When first constructed, it provided sufficient water for the entire village. However, after 12 years of use, the system has suffered severe damage: the upstream filtration tank is clogged, the main pipeline delivering water to the residential area is broken, and the central storage tank is no longer functional. As a result, clean water from the source can no longer reach the community.\u00a0<\/p>\n

    At the Suoi Giang preschool in Giang B village, the school is also struggling with a shortage of clean water. Although a drilled well was built, the water from it is not safe for use. To ensure clean water for daily activities and cooking for the students, the school has had to purchase bottled water, forcing them to cut other expenses to afford clean water.<\/p>\n

    The shortage of clean water and the reliance on unsanitary water sources have been a serious issue and a major concern for local residents in recent years. Frequent use of contaminated water has led to various health problems, including eye infections, kidney stones, gastrointestinal diseases, and gynecological conditions, primarily affecting women and children. According to local statistics, the incidence of these illnesses among women and children has increased compared to previous years.<\/p>\n

    \"During the rainy season, we have enough water to use, but in the dry season, it's really difficult. We have to walk to fetch water from mountain streams, carrying buckets. Adults can endure it, but for families with young children, it's really tough. Sometimes, when we can't afford bottled water, we have to use dirty water for cleaning and bathing the kids. Our hope is to repair the gravity-fed water system in the village so that everyone can have enough water.\"<\/em>\u00a0- Sharing by mrs. Song Thi Pang - a local people in Giang B Village.     Let's become Water Ambassadors - \"Carry\" clean water to the people of Giang B village<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Having a stable and sustainable clean water supply system has been the biggest wish for the past few years of the 120 households and 328 preschool children in Giang B village. They long for a future where they no longer have to worry about water shortages and the risks of diseases caused by unsanitary water, especially during the dry season. However, due to the difficult economic conditions, with most households being poor or near-poor, it remains uncertain when this dream will become a reality for them.<\/p>\n

    To help the residents of Giang B village access clean water more fully, we have developed a plan: Build a new upstream water filtration tank with dimensions of 1 meter wide, 1.5 meters long, and 1.2 meters high; maintain and repair the existing water supply system, which includes a 3,000-meter-long pipeline that transports water from the source to the residential area, and a central water storage tank at the residential area with a capacity of 8m\u00b3.<\/p>\n

    In addition, to maintain the sustainability of the project, we will discuss and guide the residents and students on how to use water efficiently, protect the water source, establish regulations, and form management groups to operate the system in the most effective way.<\/p>\n

    2. Project implementation time: From July, 2021 - April, 2024<\/h4>\n

    3. Method of project implementation:<\/h3>\n

    - Assign the people of Giang B village to organize the implementation of the project in the form of Community management of the entire project implementation process.<\/p>\n

    \u2013 Local authorities at all levels, Hoc Mon Ceporer and Long Thanh Commune Red Cross Society provide support in methods and techniques.<\/p>\n

    II. ACHIEVEMENTS:<\/h2>\n

    With\u00a0183,990,010 VND<\/b>\u00a0Through fundraising via the MoMo e-wallet and with the community's contributions, in the **Water Ambassador \u2013 Joining Hands to Bring Clean Water to Giang B Village** campaign, the Institute for Sustainable Development Management Research (MSD) collaborated with the Center for Community Development Initiatives (RIC) to build a clean water supply system for the residents of Giang B village, Suoi Giang commune, Yen Bai province.
