I.\u00a0<\/span>GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROJECT:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

Implementation context:<\/p>\n

The shortage of clean water among the households in Lang village, Hoa Binh province.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lang village, Yen Hoa commune, Da Bac district, Hoa Binh has 75 households with 305 people (150 women, 90 children). Among them, there are 45 poor households (60%) and 19 near-poor households (25.3%). Ethnic minorities (Tay, Dao, Muong) make up 75% of the population. The main occupation of the villagers is combined agriculture and forestry, mainly growing corn and rice.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"The water supply system is damaged.<\/em><\/p>\n

The water supply system for the people of Lang village was built with state investment starting in 2012. The system includes a water intake dam in the forest headwater (8m long, 7.5m wide, and 1.2m high), a 2m\u00b3 water distribution tank, and two water storage tanks for the residential area. After the historic flood in 2017, the headwater water storage area was eroded, with most of it being filled with soil and rocks. Additionally, 80% of the water pipes leading to the distribution tank were broken.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As a result, the people of Lang village are currently facing great difficulties in accessing water for daily use. The remaining water that flows to the residential area is muddy and unsafe due to blockages and erosion. Many households have drilled wells to find water, but the well water has a very high limestone content, posing a risk of eye diseases, kidney stones, and other digestive system-related illnesses.<\/p>\n

\"\"The water infrastructure is temporary, and the people are using unhygienic water.<\/em><\/p>\n

Due to the difficult conditions of the people in Lang village and the limited investment capital for infrastructure construction from the commune, the damage has not been repaired since 2017. As a result, the residents still have to use water sources of questionable quality, which pose potential health risks.<\/p>\n

2. Project implementation period: From July, 2022 to October, 2022.<\/h3>\n

3. Method of project implementation:<\/h3>\n

\u2013 Assign the people of Lang village to organize the implementation of the project in the form of Community management, overseeing the entire project execution process.<\/p>\n

\u2013 Local authorities at all levels and project staff from the RIC Center provide support in methods and technical expertise.<\/p>\n

II. ACHIEVEMENTS:<\/h2>\n

After 3 months of implementation, the gravity-fed water supply project for Lang village has been completed and is now in use. Some of the achieved results are as follows:<\/p>\n
