HANDOVER CEREMONY OF 900M² OF NEWLY PAVED SCHOOL YARD AT A VAO ETHNIC MINORITY BOARDING PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOL, AND 1 FUNCTIONAL ROOM WITH FULL EQUIPMENTS AND 5 RENOVATED ROOMS AT ABUNG PRIMARY & SECONDARY SCHOOL, QUANG TRI PROVINCE

As part of the "Happy School" project for the 2024–2025 academic year, MSD United Way Vietnam, in collaboration with the Community Chest of Korea, United Way Worldwide, and with generous support from philanthropist Mr. Jeung Park, had the privilege to support two remote mountainous schools in Đakrông District, Quảng Trị Province—where over 90% of students are from ethnic minority backgrounds.

On May 14, 2025, MSD United Way Vietnam held a joyful handover and inauguration ceremony at both schools, celebrating the improved learning environment with nearly 1,000 students and community members.

1. At A Vao Ethnic Minority Boarding Primary and Secondary School: A total of 900m² of the schoolyard was newly paved, providing students with a clean, spacious, and safe outdoor environment for learning, playing, and group activities.

2. At A Bung Primary & Secondary School: A new functional classroom was constructed and fully equipped with modern learning tools, creating a smart, dynamic learning space for over 100 students at the Cup satellite campus. Simultaneously, the La Hot campus is undergoing the renovation of 5 deteriorated classrooms, ensuring improved safety and better teaching and learning conditions.

During the event, teachers, students, MSD representatives, and local authorities came together in a warm, festive atmosphere filled with cultural performances and heartfelt sharing. MSD also engaged students in hands-on activities such as “inaugurating” the new computer equipment, coloring three "Happy School" themed murals—adding vibrant touches to their refreshed learning spaces. The excited eyes and beaming smiles of the students serve as a powerful reminder of why this mission matters: to ensure no child is left behind.

Ms. Nguyễn Phương Linh, Executive Director of MSD Vietnam, shared: "When a school becomes a place of happiness, hundreds of dreams find the wings to fly. We believe that every child, no matter where they are born, deserves access to a safe, loving, and inspiring learning environment. A truly happy school is not only about good infrastructure but also a place where children are heard, loved, and empowered to reach their full potential. Today, I am deeply moved by the bright smiles of the children. This is the fuel that keeps us going—to bring this model to more schools and communities across Vietnam.”

MSD United Way Vietnam sincerely thanks the Community Chest of Korea, United Way Worldwide, and Mr. Jeung Park for their meaningful support. Every square meter built, every classroom restored is a step closer to an equitable education system, where every child has the right to learn under the best conditions
