Ho Chi Minh City, August 21 & 26, 2025 – A training workshop on skills for working with children, focusing on accompanying and supporting them to prevent violence and abuse, was successfully held at the Ly Tu Trong Cadets School for Team In-charge Staff from primary and secondary schools across Ho Chi Minh City.
This activity was part of the 2025 "Spreading Love" Campaign, co-organized by MSD United Way Vietnam and the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union – Ho Chi Minh City Council of the Young Pioneer Organization, with the accompaniment of the social enterprise Seroto Foundation.
At the workshop, Ms. Nguyen Phuong Linh – Director of the Institute for Sustainable Development Management (MSD) and Co-founder of MSD United Way Vietnam , emphasized the critical importance of raising awareness among parents and teachers to eliminate all forms of physical and mental punishment.
With the participation and sharing of trainer Ngoc Loan from Seroto Foundation on the theme of "Happiness Education," the session delivered practical and relatable content through hypothetical scenarios, emotional coaching, and applicable tips to build trust and connection with children.
The core message throughout the training highlighted the accompanying role of adults—both parents and teachers. Instead of focusing solely on results, adults should encourage and acknowledge a child's progress, while putting an end to comparative and discriminatory behaviors. The ultimate goal is to build a safe and equitable environment where children feel confident to open up and speak out when facing violence or abuse.
The workshop went beyond merely providing knowledge; it created an open space for exchange where Team In-charge Staff could share experiences, discuss, and raise questions about practical challenges in their work. Thereby, the program helped enhance the capacity of the Team Staff in Ho Chi Minh City, equipping them to become active companions for children and to spread the message of a safe and non-violent environment for all.
