As part of the "Joining Hands to Overcome Typhoon Yagi – For a Resilient Vietnam" campaign, MSD United Way Vietnam conducted a training session on May 26, 2025, titled "Health and Psychological Care for Children and Adolescents during Natural Disasters". The session targeted over 20 faculty members at Văn Tố Secondary School in Tứ Kỳ District, Hải Dương Province.
The training session was led by Dr. Nguyễn Thu Giang, Deputy Director of the LIGHT Institute for Community Health Development – a leading expert in adolescent health – and Ms. Dương Thị Hoa, a gender specialist. Leveraging their deep expertise and extensive practical experience, the two specialists delivered content that was both theoretical and practical. This equipped teachers with enhanced capabilities to identify and address students' psychological and health issues during emergency situations such as natural disasters and floods.
The activity aimed to equip teachers with foundational knowledge and skills to promptly identify signs of trauma in children and adolescents. This enables them to implement appropriate support methods and help students overcome psychological trauma caused by natural disasters.
Beyond enhancing the capacity of teachers, the program also amplifies the message of timely, compassionate care and support for future generations – particularly in localities like Hải Dương, which are regularly affected by climate change and natural disasters.
